Methodology

Producing a custom cable should be easy, a rapid process and a quality process but with some organisations it isn't. However, with TPS it ALWAYS is! We have developed and put in place quality processes and we are able to rapidly produce custom cables for you in a very short time frame.

Even though our lead and development times are low, our quality is always high. Every cable produced by TPS undergoes a rigorous testing process to ensure you always receive a perfect product.

Planning

The first stage of custom cable preparation is of course planning. We will develop a 'cut list' with you which will outline your exacting project requirements, everything including connector selection, length, cable type and custom Brady labeling.

Once this 'cut list' has been produced we will give you the opportunity to test the custom cables for fit with your application so that any alterations can be made before full scale production begins.

We are experienced at producing large quantities of custom cables, but also regularly produce one off runs for various clients. Because our production process is expertly streamlined, it is not difficult to respond to ad-hoc and rapid requests from clients.

Cable selection

Because project and payload requirements always vary we are experienced and 'tooled up' to work with many cable and connector types.

Most recently we have worked with;

  • Times Fibre RG59 series of cables
  • Belden YR 23769 double shielded video cables
  • Fire Rated Nokia Cables
  • Unshielded Twisted Pair
  • Shielded Twisted Pair
  • CX-32, CX-50, CX-75 Commscope hard line coax
  • RG6 & RG11 Commscope coax
  • BNC, BNO, TNC, Belling Lee and Trompeter connectors
  • F, FME, SMA, SMB, and N connectors
  • SCART, SVHS, RCA, Cannon and 6.5MM connectors
  • RJ45 (8PC4, 8PC6, 8PC8) and 610 connectors
  • DB9, DB15, DB15HD, DB25 and DB37 connectors
  • Speakon, XLR, DIN, MMBX and BMA connectors

Accuracy & consistency

We use the latest Schleuniger PowerStrip 9500 Radial Stripping and cutting equipment as well as hydraulic pressure crimpers to ensure consistency and quality between production runs.

Using computerised cable production equipment has eliminated any faults experienced during the testing phase of our cable production process.

Once we have assembled a computerised cut list, it is saved in our database. We can easily recall this cut list and produce more cables as required. It is as simple as a phone call and cabling can be dispatched to any one of your locations the same day.

Quality testing

Many organisations out there simply test custom cables for a dead short or continuity. Of course, this does nothing to test the bandwidth of the cable.

All TPS cables are swept using Hewlett Packard network analyzers or Hewlett Packard spectrum analyzers to identify any bandwidth problems.

In addition to this before cables are dispatched they are physically stress tested for durability.

On site testing

Sometimes our clients request us to produce cabling with only one end fitted in a "tail format" so that it can be installed on site. Our experienced installations team can assemble and install your custom cables on site and also sweep test RF cables once completely installed. All team members are skilled at using RF test equipment and understand RF troubleshooting principles.
